Amtrak train collides with vehicle obstructing track in Brookfield

BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An Amtrak train that departed from Chicago came into contact with a vehicle that was obstructing the track on Saturday, Dec. 6, according to Amtrak.

The incident occurred around 5:07 p.m. near Pilgrim and North in Brookfield. 

According to the Brookfield Police Department, the investigation revealed the vehicle going westbound on North Ave turned onto the railroad tracks east of Pilgrim Road. The driver and passenger realized their error and fled from the car, which became stuck on the tracks. The westbound train struck the vehicle. 

Police say no injuries were reported.
